A FLOATING BEACON
ABOVE THE COURSE
A FLOATING BEACON
ABOVE THE COURSE
A Message from the Francine Houben:
Welcome to Whistling Rock’s Clubhouse
With such a beautiful mountain landscape surrounding the golf course,
it was only natural that this terrain would be the design inspiration for the clubhouse.
Because we design with the idea that architecture should appeal to all of the senses,
the clubhouse carefully balances the visual and the sensual with the harmony of culture and nature.
The rectilinear clubhouse, a 140-meter-long travertine building, appears as a beacon from across the course.
Inside, a sensory story of scents, views, and textures unravels in the contrasting interior elements of light and dark, smooth and rough, natural and manmade.
The clubhouse is rather like a museum, where members and visitors are invited to celebrate culture and nature.
A state-of-the-art clubhouse belongs with a world-class golf course in this beautiful place.”
Mecanoo / Francine Houben (President & Principal Architect)
Mecanoo Architecten designed the interior of the clubhouse using simple and pure forms,
creating wide open spaces to display art and gardens as well as intimate spaces that respect privacy.
The variety of spaces within the clubhouse allows the member opportunity to rest in quiet solitude and
reflection at one moment, and then at another, join other members and guests as part of a social party.
MASSCLUSIVITY
SERVICE AT WHISTLING ROCK
“Massclusivity,” a concept and term unique to Whistling Rock, aims to give all members and guests the respect, privilege,
and joy they should feel as part of an exclusive club and to connote an unparalleled level of service.
Attention to detail is readily apparent on arrival at the club, from the first contact personnel to the golf shop attendees,
and is carried throughout by caddies, locker and restaurant staff, sommeliers, baristas, and chefs.
A Message from the Chef:
At Whistling Rock, we devised our own culinary philosophy,
focusing on unique dishes specifically designed to foster health and well-being. Each menu presents low-fat, low-salt, and low-sugar items, and every recipe uses the highest quality, freshest raw foods and authentic local ingredients.
The “Healing Food Service” philosophy is based on the wisdom of Hippocrates, the ancient medical scientist and philosopher, who over two millennia ago said, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine by thy food.”
- Young Ju Lee (Head Chef)
WR’s wine collection is among the finest ever assembled at an Asian golf club.
A team of highly accredited sommeliers is on hand to curate the club’s extensive 30,000-bottle
cellar and suggest food and wine pairings.
The highlight of the collection is a 10,000-bottle wine tasting room.
Whistling Rock serves premium Dutch coffee, “Tears of Coffee”
About Dutch Coffee
Dutch coffee was designed for ship crews to enjoy during the long trip home from Indonesia,
a colony from which the Dutch imported their beans.
The cold-water extraction process, a custom known in the tropics for ages,
filtered cold water over ground beans for more than 12 hours using an extraction tool.
This process produced a very strong flavor that combined sour, sweet, and bitter.
Because it fermented for two days after brewing, it was considered the “Wine of Coffee.”
Tears of Coffee Tasting Note
WR’s Premium Dutch Coffee, brewed for over 8 hours, has a strong flavor of dark chocolate and coconut
that spreads about your mouth.
The balance between light acidity and sweetness
produces a full-bodied taste, but finishes as smooth as silk with a delightfully long after-taste.
Real Fresh
Tears of Coffee can be bottled and pre-ordered by members and guests.
The extraction process starts as soon as you order to ensure a delivery of our freshest brew.
